Houston County Lake
Crockett Lakefront RV Resort & Marina is right on the Houston County Lake. The lake is great for bass, crappie, and catfish fishing. We have a boat ramp, and marina.
Caddo Mounds
Caddo Mounds is a prehistoric site located outside of Houston County. There is a 0.7-mile self-guided interpretive trail to see the Caddo’s burial, low temple, and ceremonial mounds.
Davy Crockett National Forest
Check out these 160,000 acres of national forest named after Davy Crockett. Explore trails, woodlands, campsites, recreation habitats, and wildlife observation areas.
El Camino Real de Los Tejas National Historical Trail
One of many Houston County, Texas attractions, the El Camino Real de Los Tejas was designated as a National Historic Trail in 2004. El Camino Real de Los Tejas has existed for more than 300 years and there are many things to do along this beautiful roadway.
First United Methodist Church
This is one of the oldest congregations in Texas and was built in 1902. First United Methodist Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Houston County, Texas.
Four C National Recreation Trail
This trail is located on the Davy Crockett National Forest. The 20-mile trail begins at Ratcliff Lake and ends at the Neches Overlook. Explore pines, bottomland hardwoods, boggy sloughs, and upland forests. Hike through the Big Slough Wilderness Area, providing visitors an opportunity to see a variety of wildlife.
Grapeland Safari
Grapeland Safari is a great place to visit for both children and adults. It features zebras, buffalo, llamas, Axis Deer, Fallow deer, Sika deer, and camels just to name a few.
Mission Tejas State Park
Mission Tejas State Park provides a variety of programs for all ages most Saturdays. Activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing. A pond located near the picnic area offers an excellent opportunity to explore aquatic life and fish. Hiking and nature trails provide access to the natural beauty of the East Texas Piney Woods.
Piney Creek Horse Trail
The Piney Creek Horse Trail is a system of trails that meanders through the East Texas piney woods in the Davy Crockett National Forest. The trails are primitive and offer forest visitors more than 50 miles of developed horse trails.
Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area
The Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area surrounds a 45- acre lake. Enjoy camping, picnicking, a swimming beach and bathhouse, along with a concession stand, an amphitheater, an interpretive forest trail, showers, boating, and fishing in a beautiful forest setting.
Davy Crockett Springs
Visit the place where the King of the Wild Frontier quenched his thirst on his way to defend the Alamo.
